We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the welcome news that at last week’s meeting of the Eastern Area Planning Committee at Wiltshire Council in Devizes, a second application to develop land within St John’s Close in Marlborough was turned down.

The residents of St John’s Close have been admirably supported by a number of local councillors in our quest to secure a rejection of this application to build in a historically significant area of Edwardian social housing within the town.

In particular, we would like to thank Marian Hannaford-Dobson, Stewart Dobson, Nick Fogg and the members of the Marlborough Town Council planning committee who recommended rejection of the application. In these days of negative publicity directed at our politicians, it is a pleasure to be able to write in recognition of the good work that our representatives have done.

Max More, Chairman, St John’s Close Residents’ Association, Marlborough.
