After reading in last week’s Gazette and Herald the letter from Mrs A Carter about feeling let down by Wiltshire Council, I too was at the same planning committee meeting about a completely different planning application and also came out thinking that we had not been listen to or our view taken into account.

The planning application I was there about was for the Rudloe Manor, yes it is a listed building and in need of repair.

But why, when the developer knew this when they purchased the Manor, are they now asking to build more houses?

They will be on the skyline in an area of outstanding natural beauty, will double the amount of cars down a small lane, which is unsuitable to take more cars, and let foul water from the klargester, subject to a licence from the enviromental agency, into the ByBrook stream, which is home to an otter.

Corsham Town Council recommended planning to be refused. So why did the planning committee approve? Do they care about the environment? Did they ask enough questions? Listen to the local people?

Even Isambard Kingdom Brunel had to dig a tunnel for the railway and go around the Box valley, yet they let this development go ahead. It’s a good job that everybody don’t ask to build houses to fund repair work.
