Nurse Del Davies has forsaken the usual birthday drinks at her 40th bash and asked friends and relatives instead for cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr Davies, of Salisbury Road, Marlborough, was a nurse at Savernake Hospital but now works at Merlin Court home for the elderly.
She said: “I celebrated my 40th birthday at Marlborough Town Football Club with over 130 guests.
“Instead of people offering to buy me drinks at the party I asked them to put donations into a collecting box for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I was thrilled to find out that the evening raised just over £100.”
