Chippenham's first Namfest rock concert proved the old adage that the show must go on – as not even a power cut could stop the music.

More than 400 people were evacuated from the charity “supergig” at The Olympiad following the grid failure.

Organiser and Bad Lizard guitarist Ben Slater, 29, said: “A couple of people were asking for refunds and one man was getting quite annoyed.

“But after about an hour the power and lights came back on.

“It almost made it better in a way because everyone played acoustic guitars in the car park – there was a proper festival atmosphere.”

Once back, Glastonbury Festival veterans Halagoogoo, who recently toured with Scouting For Girls, were supported by up and coming bands Miss Vickery and King Rat and the Desperados, and local groups Monkey See Monkey Do and Bad Lizard.

Namfest raised over £2,000 for The Make A Wish Foundation, which helps children fighting life threatening illnesses.
