Wiltshire Steam and Vintage Rally comes to Rainscombe Park, home of Robert and Lady Julia Hiscox, this weekend.

The rally, organised by the Wiltshire Agricultural Preservation Group, takes place on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm in the natural arena of the park in Oare.

Organiser Karen Giddings said the rally is definitely going ahead, despite many advertising hoardings being taken down.

The show has been widely advertised but many of the professionally printed posters disappeared, and it was later discovered that Wiltshire Council highways department was responsible.

In recent years the show has raised more than £11,000 for the Wiltshire Bobby Van and further funds for the Air Ambulance Appeal. Mrs Giddings said: “If we hve to pay the AA to put up signs we will not have so much to give to charities.”

Attractions include steam ploughing, heavy horses, vintage tractors, cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles, rural crafts and a celebration of 50 years of the Mini car.

Admission is £6, pensioners £4 and under 16s free.
