The mother of teenager Sam Young, who died in a car crash near Erlestoke earlier this month, has said seeing so many people turn out for his funeral made her feel very proud.

Mourners packed out St Leonard’s Church, in Keevil, for the funeral of the 19-year-old on Friday. The teenager, of Kingsdown Road, Trowbr-idge, died in the early hours of May 31 when he lost control of his Peugeot on the B3098 near Erlestoke.

His mother, Debbie Frowde, said: “I would like to say a very big thank you for all the support, cards and letters I have received from many of his close friends and family, which has given us strength to see this last week through. I would also like to thank everybody who attended the funeral, I didn’t realise how many friends he had.”

She also thanked the Wiltshire Police Family Liaison Officers who have helped them.

Many mourners wore colourful clothes and sports tops at his family’s request.

He was brought in to the church to the sound of DJ Ironik’s song, Stay With Me.

Readings came from relatives and friends. Following the service, he was taken for a private family burial.

Friends and family gathered at the Black Horse in Frome Road, where Mr Young worked.
