Fire crews from Chippenham, Corsham and Devizes were called to a house fire in Ashe crescent late on Saturday night.

The fire, which is thought to have been started by candles, broke out in the semi detached home at 10pm.

Three fire appliances and a control unit from Devizes attended the scene and on arrival found flames licking the side of the building.

Several firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were used to quickly extinguish the blaze, but crews were detained for three hours while investigations into the cause of the fire were carried out.
