There was a record turnout for the new route of the Kennet Kanter, the ten-mile trail run around Devizes, on Sunday.
Organisers' fears of a monsoon proved unfounded as rain cleared up well before the start of the race at 11am.
For the first time the run started in Devizes Market Place, necessitating a brisk jog down from the leisure centre where registration was taking place.
Organiser Colin Brown said: "We wanted the runners to get the best views of the town and that involved taking in the Market Place.
"It worked well and the runners really enjoyed it."
There was a new record for the new course, with 29-year-old Tom Fisher from Lower Westwood, near Bradford on Avon, reaching the finish line on the Green in just 56 minutes and 51 seconds.
Second and third places went to Nathan Montague and Gary O'Brien from Swindon Harriers, who are no strangers to the Kennet Kanter. They finished in 59:35 and 1:00:45 respectively.
The ladies were not far behind with Jo Parkes of Marlborough Running Club coming in as the first senior female in 1:12:36, with Sarah Willcox-Jones second in 1:23:26 and Elizabeth Dunn third in 1:25:47.
The first veteran male home was Martin Chorley of Warminster in 1:02:16 while Amanda Richardson from Hogweed Trotters was first vet female in 1:12:01.
There were 270 entries in total in the ten-mile trail run and 5km fun run.
The event was raising money for Devizes Opportunity Group and Rowdeford School, both of which cater for children with special educational needs.
Rowdeford head teacher Ingrid Lancaster-Gaye was running and completed the ten-mile course in 1:37:10, about ten minutes faster than she did last year.
