Swindon Wildcats have announced the double signing of Matt Foord and Joe Baird for the new 2009/2010 Ice Hockey Season.
The duo both come from local rivals the Bracknell Bees after being their for the last three years including being part of Wildcats Head Coach Ryan Aldridge's double winning team.
Foord and Baird become the third and fourth players to put pen to paper following on from Jozef Kohut and Aaron Nell signing for the new season.
Wildcats Head Coach Ryan Aldridge explains his delight and highlights the importance of bringing Matt Foord to the club. "Foordy is another great piece to our 2009/2010 puzzle," he said.
"He is what we call an 'old time hockey player', he will do whatever it takes for the team, and this is combined with his ability to find the net.
"Matt brings years of experience to the club and is the kind of player that will bring the team together, he is the life and soul of a locker room but knows when its time to get to work.
"Foordy was with me when we won the double in Bracknell and was a massive part of the team. He came to play every night then and more importantly he came to WIN. I can't wait to work with Foordy again this season."
Aldridge goes on to highlight Joe Baird's qualities.
"Joe is the British Defenceman I have been talking about and looking for. He is a no-nonsense, hard hitting player that will take the body all over the ice," he said.
"Joe is more than willing to take a hit to make a play and get the puck out. Along with Matt, Joe also comes with a lot of experience and was another player that played a big role in our double winning team with Bracknell.
"As mean a player that he can be on the ice Joe is as bigger gentleman off the ice which makes him a huge all round signing for us as a club."
