Adam Corbett, one of the youngest supporters of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, has organised his own petition to save it.
Adam, 12, who lives in Kington St Michael, got fellow pupils and teachers at Newent Comprehensive School in Gloucestershire to sign his petition.
The 70 name petition is in a booklet Adam has prepared.
In his booklet, Adam has written: “We should save the Air Ambulance because it helps us and they can get to places where cars cannot get down and it saves people’s lives.
“So can you just vote for the Air Ambulance please, thanks.”
The move follows the Gazette’s lead to stop the Great Western Ambulance Service from pulling out of the joint Wiltshire Police/Air Ambulance helicopter when the lease is up for renewal in December.
Adam adds: “I would like to be a policeman or a fireman. They are good jobs. I love the Air Ambulance.
“My best hobbies are diving, riding and sky diving.”
Adam has also written about how his brother, Nathan, 19, was injured in a road accident three years ago in Chippenham.
The air ambulance landed to help even though Nathan was eventually taken to hospital in a road ambulance.
Adam also recounts attending the Bowood Dog Show last year when a man suffered a stroke. He ran to find the Air Ambulance paramedics who were already at the show.
His mother Caralyn Hastings said: “Adam is very passionate about the Air Ambulance.
“He keeps saying ‘we can’t lose it’ to all his friends, teachers and people in the village. He is a fantastic caring little boy.
“He sees the Air Ambulance a lot at shows that we go to and he speaks to the crew and the volunteers.
“He has got a signed Air Ambulance poster of the staff right above his bed and he has an Air Ambulance mug.”
