A gym chain has provided more details on plans to open a new branch on a Wiltshire High Street.

In November Anytime Fitness, which boasts over 180 clubs nationwide, was confirmed as the final occupant for the redeveloped Wilko building on Chippenham High Street.

The gym keeps its locations open 24/7 and has now provided an updated timeline on its plans.

Building owner The Harkalm Group previously suggested the gym could open “before Christmas”, but Anytime Fitness says it is aiming to be operational next spring.

A spokesperson said: “We do not expect to open until March or April 2025. Depending on if we get approval from the council which can take time.”

The gym will join Starbucks and Tesco Express in the former retail store, both of which suffered damage in the recent floods.

The Harkalm Group previously claimed the transformed site has brought “renewed energy” to the area.

A spokesperson added: “Fantastic to visit our completed development in Chippenham, which has transformed a former 22,000sq foot Wilko store into a vibrant community asset.

“After extensive refurbishment, the site now features Tesco, which has been operational since late-summer, Starbucks, and Anytime Fitness.

“This project has involved great collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, bringing employment opportunities and renewed energy to a historic building on Chippenham’s High Street.”
