TV star Dominic West wowed staff and customers when he popped into a new Wiltshire bar for a half pint.

Mr West, who is perhaps best known for playing Jimmy McNulty in The Wire, was in Devizes on Saturday, November 23, when he dropped into The Pour House, which opened on St John’s Street at the start of November.

He stayed for a “cheeky half” and took a selfie with bar manager Tony Lockyear before heading off.

Pour House owner Sarah Watts revealed the bar has already become “quite the hotspot” for famous faces with music legend John Otway also visiting for a drink.

She said: “It’s crazy, I’m rubbish at recognising famous people but he popped in, had a chat with some of the guys at the bar, had a cheeky half, and popped back out.

“Tony managed to get the selfie and we welcomed him in, it was only when he left that I realised who it was, it was a bit surreal.

“Hopefully now he’s been in he’ll come back again.”

This landmark will be marked with a full launch party on Friday, November 29, between 2pm and 9pm.

Ms Watts believes this will be a chance for the bar to welcome in new customers and say thank you to those who have already become regulars during a busy opening period.

She said: “We’re very excited because it’s an opportunity for us to welcome new people in who’ll be coming in for the lights switch-on and to support the event as well.

“But also, it’s a chance to say thank you to everybody for all their support over our first month and that’s what it’s all about.

“Our first month has been amazing and has exceeded all our hopes and expectations, it’s got such a lovely vibe which is what we wanted to create.

“We hoped we’d be welcomed by everybody and we certainly have been, there’s a real community feel already and we’ve had lovely feedback.”

Ms Watts has urged anyone who may be in the area on Friday to pop in and get “a warm welcome”.

During the party, The Pour House will also launch its own beer which is named after Ms Watts’ “chief bar dog” Kraken.
