Festive designs have appeared on several shop windows in Marlborough, one week ahead of the town's Christmas lights switch-on event.

Although it's normal for shops to fill up with Christmas gifts at this time of year, independent stores in Marlborough have gone one step further to show off their festivity.

This year, artists have been invited to showcase their art by painting several of the town's High Street shopfronts.

Their windows creations include white drawn on images of independent shops in the town wrapped in Christmas lights, colourful paintings of animals, and artwork featuring trees, hats, crackers, candy canes and holly leaves.

The Curate Shop, on Marlborough High Street, had their window display created by Grace Payne-Kumar, a Marlborough College art student whose work has featured in British Vogue.

Sharing a video of Grace bringing the 'Marlborough Independents Winter Wonderland' window to life, a spokesperson for the shop said: "This holiday season, show some love to our local, indie gems that make our community unique."

Charlotte Dryden-Kelsey also returned to decorate The White Horse Bookshop, after her previous paintings of small mice causing chaos with the Christmas crackers delighted locals in 2022.

Photos shared by Marlborough Council also show several large robins which are also get to take pride of place on the High Street in preparation for the town's Christmas lights event on Friday, November 29.
