Multiple secondary schools around a Wiltshire town have closed due to “severe flooding”.
On the morning of Monday, November 25, Chippenham residents woke up to flooding around the town following downpours during Storm Bert.
This has affected multiple key roads around the area, causing delays and leaving routes impassable.
As a result, multiple schools around the town have confirmed they will not open today due to the flooding.
This includes some of the area’s biggest secondary schools like Sheldon School, which said in a statement that it would be “unsafe” for staff and students to travel to the site.

Both Abbeyfield and Hardenuish School will also remain closed due to being unable to “open safely” as staff would not be able to reach the schools.
All three schools have set work for pupils online and will keep parents updated on when they are likely to reopen.
A Sheldon spokesperson added: “Due to severe flooding on the surrounding roads in the Chippenham area, it is unsafe for students and staff to travel to Sheldon School.
“Therefore, the school will be closed today, November 25. The other two secondary schools locally have also agreed to shut also.
“The safety of our school community is our top priority. Please avoid unnecessary travel and take care if you are affected by the flooding.”
