Three men have been charged after armed police stopped a suspected stolen car with theft tools inside.
On Tuesday, November 19, police officers in Wiltshire were alerted by colleagues at Thames Valley Police to a vehicle travelling into the Marlborough area.
Officers from Roads Policing, Armed Response and the Dog Section were able to locate and stop the car which was travelling at a high speed on the A345 Swan Road in Pewsey.
"A search of the vehicle identified several number plates and tools associated with carrying out thefts," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
Three men were arrested at the scene and have now been charged.
A 25-year-old man from Buckinghamshire has been charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without valid insurance, going equipped for theft, and handling stolen goods.
A 21-year-old, also from Buckinghamshire, and a 24-year-old from London have also been charged with going equipped to steal and handling stolen goods.
All three men have yet to be named by Wiltshire Police, but will appear in court for a hearing on January 8, 2025.
Until then, the driver of the vehicle has been remanded in custody and the other two men released on court bail with a curfew while further enquiries take place.
All three suspects have also been bailed in relation to conspiring to steal from motor vehicles between September 20th- November 12th 2024, prior to this incident.
