A gym is set to open on a Wiltshire High Street to complete the redevelopment of a town’s former Wilko building.
Wilko’s town centre branch in Chippenham closed last year and was taken on by developer The Harkalm Group, which has since split the site into three separate units.
Two of these spaces have already been filled by Tesco Express and Starbucks, with both chains opening branches on the High Street this year.
Now The Harkalm Group has announced gym chain Anytime Fitness as the site’s final occupant.
Anytime Fitness currently boasts over 180 clubs in the UK and keeps its venues open 24/7.
While the developer told this paper it was unsure of the exact timescale of the renovations to transform the final unit into a gym, it is expected that the branch will open before Christmas.

A spokesperson said: “Fantastic to visit our completed development in Chippenham, which has transformed a former 22,000sq foot Wilko store into a vibrant community asset.
“After extensive refurbishment, the site now features Tesco, which has been operational since late-summer, Starbucks, and Anytime Fitness, set to open before Christmas.
“This project has involved great collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, bringing employment opportunities and renewed energy to a historic building on Chippenham’s High Street.”
In a visit to the site, the firm’s senior associate Charles Percival revealed that the property investors first identified the Wilko store last year when Tesco informed them it planned to relocate.
The supermarket chain closed the doors of its Emery Gate superstore this summer and reopened a smaller convenience shop on the High Street.

Mr Percival said: “In September last year, Tesco informed us that they were looking to relocate and downsize their existing town centre store.
“That meant going from a 30,000sq foot store with parking to a 10,000sq foot store on the High Street.
“We identified the Wilko unit as being suitable. Shortly after, Wilko announced their administration, so I asked our in-house research team to contact the owner.”
Managing director Ben Sarner added: “We’re particularly proud of this development because it allowed many elements of our team to collaborate to create this fantastic community asset.”
