A Theatre Royal Bath pantomime star has been called in to coach a couple of Russian spies on how to perfect their American accents.
Holt Players Dramatic Society turned to local actor and writer Jon Monie to give accent coaching sessions to two Russian spies in its latest production Hugh Whitemore’s ‘Pack of Lies’.
He took time off from his own preparations for playing Muddles in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to give some advice to Kirstin West and John Fletcher, who play husband and wife Peter and Helen in the play.
Fiona Campbell, of Holt Players, said: “Transatlantic accents can be hard to master, and our next production Pack of Lies features a couple from New York via Canada, so we asked one of the village’s resident professional actors, Jon Monie, to offer some tips.”
The production is an intriguing drama based on a real-life story of lies, spies and betrayal based on what happened to an ordinary middle-class family caught in the middle of the Portland Spy Scandal of the 1960s involving the Russians and the Royal Navy.
Pack of Lies runs from Thursday, November 28 to Saturday, November 30 in Holt Village Hall.
Tickets are available from the Wiltshire Music Centre or online, vist www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk.
