A Wiltshire retail park store remains on the market after plans to transform it into a McDonald’s were scrapped.
The Bensons for Beds store at Hathaway Retail Park in Chippenham was initially made available to let over a year ago, after plans were lodged to change its use to a mixed restaurant and takeaway.
The unit was under offer for several months after this application was approved by Wiltshire Council and McDonald’s looked like it would be the space’s next occupant.
The fast food giant lodged three planning applications to transform the site into a “proposed restaurant” by adding McDonald’s branding and a reconfigured shopfront.
But despite the council approving all three of these proposals, McDonald’s announced in June that it no longer had any plans to open a branch at the unit.

When asked for an update at the time, a spokesperson said: “This is no longer a site we’re looking to take on.”
Since then, the store has been relisted by estate agent Savills as available to let, with the rent to be revealed on application.
This listing remains active nearly six months later.
Bensons previously insisted it had no plans to move from its Chippenham store.
