A woman who slapped a policeman on the bum days before Christmas has been fined £100 after her previous sentence was overturned.

Julianne Chipepera (formerly known as Melis), 39, appeared in Swindon Magistrates’ Court on November 11 where she admitted to breaching a community order by not turning up for probation appointments.

Chipepera was originally charged with sexual assault on a male following the incident on December 2023 in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Lee Mott, defending, said Chipepera had been abandoned by her husband and started drinking, leading to the night where she “patted a policeman on the bum”.

She was living in Liverpool with a pastor whose choir she sang in but later became homeless in Birmingham before getting help from the Red Cross.

“She has been living off the charity and kindness of other people”, said Mott.

After failed court appearances, she pleaded guilty to both the sexual assault and failing to surrender to court bail on May 13.

A 12-month community order was made by Liverpool & Knowsley Magistrates Court in August but she failed to follow it from the start due to her unpredictable circumstances, leading to her latest appearance in Swindon in November.

District judge Joanna Dickens called the situation "a mess".

The community order from August in Liverpool was overturned, and replaced with a £100 fine. There were no costs due to lack of means.
