Work has started to transform an empty town centre unit into a new vet clinic.
The Peacock Veterinary Clinic, an independent business that opened its first branch in Corsham three years ago, has taken over the former Chippenham Community Hub in Borough Parade.
Work is underway to convert the space, which will become a second, stand-alone practice.
It is expected that the clinic will open in early 2025.
The business is owned by Iris Kestemont MRCVS and the newest branch will be managed by lead vet Lizzi Sharples MRCVS.

She said: “I have really enjoyed working with Iris and the Corsham team over the past year and am now excited to be leading a new team in the centre of Chippenham.
“Whilst we will work closely with Corsham, it will be a stand-alone clinic offering a complete service from routine vaccinations through to all types of more complex surgeries.
“I am looking forward to providing the continuity of care possible in a small practice, where clients can see the same vet on each visit and we get to know each pet and their needs.
“Iris has established a high standard of cost-effective care in Corsham and we will be applying the same approach of individualised care in Chippenham.”
Pet owners will be able to access services like operations, x-rays, vaccinations, and routine check-ups at the town centre clinic.
The practice will have access to Peacock Vet’s holistic vet, Veerle Dejonckheere MRCVS.
Vet behaviourist Karen Arents will also hold clinics at the site including the ‘puppy parties’ desensitisation programme to help new arrivals settle in and get used to other animals.

Owner Iris Kestemont was excited to start welcoming patients.
She added: “I am delighted that our new Chippenham clients will receive the same range of expertise, specialisms and care that we currently offer to clients who are from in and around Corsham.
“I am certain that the new team will be equally friendly, supportive and approachable, too.
“Giving friendly, independent and cost-effective advice and services is very important to me and the team.
“I know that Lizzi can’t wait to start welcoming people and their pets through the door.”
The Chippenham clinic is expected to grow to around the same size as the Corsham one, which currently has a team of 11.
It is currently looking to recruit another vet, veterinary nurses, and receptionists.
