A driver who does not hold a valid licence or insurance has been caught out trying to provide a false licence to officers.
Road Policing officers were travelling on the M4 on Wednesday evening in an unmarked vehicle when they saw a red Nissan Micra “straddling” the hard shoulder.
They pulled the driver over and checks revealed they did not have insurance or a valid driver’s licence.
Instead the driver tried to fool officers by showing them a photo of a fake licence.
Wiltshire Specialist Operations said: “Vehicle seen straddling the hard shoulder on the M4.... found to have no insurance or driving license! Although a photograph of false license was offered!”
Driving without a licence can result in three to six penalty points, a fine of up to £1,000 and disqualification, while driving without insurance also carries hefty penalties.
