A sandwich shop has opened at the Castle Place shopping centre in Trowbridge as it continues to attract new tenants.

The Sandwich Hub has been launched by Tracy Barlow who used to work with Tony Pinto at Intermezzo outside the Fore Street entrance to The Shires shopping centre.

She has bought his equipment, following Tony’s decision to retire in October, and has now started her own family-run small business.

Tracy, 45, said: “We have been very busy since we opened on Thursday, November 7, particularly during the Weavers Market on Saturday.

“Business is picking through word-of-mouth and a lot of Tony’s regular customers are coming in.

“We are getting some new signage and an A-board sorted this week and will be putting up a menu in the window so that people can see what we offer.”

Tracy is selling freshly-made baguettes, jacket potatoes and salads, as well as breakfast baguettes.

One customer Robert Colebourne, said: “Great sandwiches go enjoy the selection.”

Other new tenants at Castle Place include The Chicken Stop, which is due to open soon, having taken over the former JC’s Kitchen unit.

Signs in the window indicate it will be selling fried chicken, fresh pizza, burgers and loaded fries.

The new Mini Market Express has also opened in a Castle Place unit in Market Street previously occupied by a McColls convenience store.

It is selling a wide range of dry groceries, as well as alcohol and will be open for 20 hours a day from 6am to 2am.

Owner Mohamed Aziz, who also runs the 7 Days Trowbridge Ltd convenience store in Wicker Hill, said: “I think it will be very good for Trowbridge, as no-one else is opening until 2am in the morning.”

Kez Garner, chair of Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new openings, saying: “I am delighted to see more shops opening and food places included in that.

“There are more coming but they have not announced themselves yet. The front of Castle Place will look quite vibrant by the end of the month.”
