A motivational speaker, author, and entrepreneur from Chippenham has graduated from Bournemouth University alongside her son.
Alison Edgar and her son, Connor Edgar, celebrated their academic achievements together last week.
Alison was awarded an honorary Doctor of Education degree for her contributions to entrepreneurship and education, while Connor graduated with a degree in product design and engineering.
Alison said: "Receiving this honorary doctorate is a deeply emotional moment for me.
"From growing up in poverty to standing here as Doctor of Education. Dyslexia made school a real challenge for me, but I learned to overcome it and forge my own path.
"To graduate alongside my son, Connor, makes this moment one of the proudest of my life.
"It’s proof that no matter your starting point, you can achieve anything with determination and resilience."
Connor has already secured a position at Babcock International, having been selected from thousands of applicants.
The graduation ceremony was a "proud day" for the Edgar family, "symbolising not just academic success but also a legacy of hard work, resilience, and the transformative power of education," a spokesperson said.
Both Alison and Connor’s achievements reflect the "strength of perseverance and dedication to personal growth," they added.
