Train users in Wiltshire have been warned of “significant disruption” to services this weekend due to crew availability.

Great Western Railway has confirmed it will be short-staffed throughout Sunday, November 10, and as a result will be running a significantly reduced timetable during the day.

Services between Bristol and London, which run through Wiltshire stopping at Swindon and Chippenham, will be impacted.

Fewer trains will run, meaning those that do are expected to be “very busy”, while passengers may be hit by late delays or cancellations.

Customers have been warned to only travel if “absolutely necessary” and can claim a refund on the GWR website.

A GWR spokesperson said: “Due to crew availability, we expect significant disruption to services on Sunday.

“A significantly reduced, amended timetable will be in place for services between London - Bristol Temple Meads and London - South Wales.

“Fewer trains will run on these routes, and those that do will be very busy. Services may also be cancelled or delayed at short notice.

“Because of the late notice changes, and the complexity of updating timetable systems, journey planners will not show changes correctly before Sunday morning.

“We're sorry for the impact this will have on your journey.”
