The life and music of American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton are celebrated in a new show touring to Bath’s Theatre Royal.

Here You Come Again is co-written by Tricia Paoluccio, who also plays the role of Dolly, with Steven Webb taking the role of Kevin.

It’s fair to say that if you like Dolly – best known for her biggest hits Jolene, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again and 9-5, then you’ll absolutely love this joyous new musical.

For the first time ever, all of her biggest hits are brought together in Here You Come Again, a rollicking and feel-good new musical, fully authorised by Dolly herself.

Packed with her iconic songs, the lively and touching show tells the story of a diehard fan whose imagined version of international icon Dolly Parton gets Kevin through trying times, having just separated from his long-time boyfriend, Jeremy, an investment banker and learning that he’s just lost his job in a local comedy club.

In the attic bedroom of his childhood home in West Yorkshire, surrounded by precious belongings from his youth, Kevin is reunited with a much-loved old record player and his cherished Dolly Parton albums.

He remembers the hard times those songs helped him through in the past and counts on them to help him once again.

With her wit, humour and charm, Dolly teaches him a whole lot about life, love and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, even if your bootstraps don’t have rhinestones.

Multi-talented actor, visual artist and creator, Tricia Paoluccio stars as Dolly and also co-wrote the show. Steven Webb, who stars as Kevin, began his career 30 years ago and plays the die-hard fan whose life is changed after his idol bursts into his attic.

They are joined on stage by Aidan Cutler and Charlotte Elisabeth Yorke and the band featuring musical supervisor Richard John, musical director Jordan Li-Smith, bassist Kevin Oliver Jones, guitarist Alex Crawford and drummer Ben Scott.

The show pays tribute to the US icon and features extraordinary performances from the two lead actors, particularly Steven Webb whose singing and acting is more than a match for Tricia Paoluccio.

Here You Come Again appears at the Theatre Royal Bath to Saturday, November 9. It’s well worth a visit so to book tickets call the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 or visit theatreroyal.org.uk.
