The Salvation Army in Trowbridge is once again calling on the local community to donate brand new toys to its Christmas appeal which will support families in need over the festive season.

Gifts can include anything from soft and educational toys for the very youngest child, to games, toys, books, toiletries and accessories for older children.

All donations must be brand new and should be unwrapped.

This year’s appeal will run from Tuesday, November 12 to Monday, December 2.  Between those dates you can take your donations to the following locations:

  • Tesco Extra, County Way, Trowbridge, during normal shop hours
  • The Shires Management Office, Trowbridge, Monday-Saturday 9am-pm, Sundays 10.30am-4pm

Salvation Army church leader Territorial Envoy Michala Lancefield said: “Sadly, we know that this will be another really tough Christmas for local families.

“As the cost of living increases continue to hit home, the number of children potentially receiving no present will be great again this year, so please support the appeal and share some hope this Christmas.

“The Salvation Army will collect, sort and distribute the gifts to children and families in the area through their contacts at social services.”

She added: “Every year we ask people to donate brand new unwrapped toys and gifts to our Christmas present appeal so we can distribute them to families whose children would otherwise not receive a gift.

“The people of Trowbridge and the surrounding areas are so generous each year and we couldn’t help those in need without your support.

“By adding an extra present or gift to your shopping list this year you can remind families facing a tough time that their communities care.”

The Salvation Army will also be providing two opportunities for people to bring their kind donations directly to their church building in Castle Street, Trowbridge.

The dates for this are Friday, November 29 from 4.30pm-6.30pm and Saturday, November 30 from 10am-2pm.

Michala added: “Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. It means a great deal to The Salvation Army and even more to those whom we are able to support.”

If you are unable to donate a toy of gift to the appeal you can still add your support by making a financial donation, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thesalvationarmychristmas-2024-443.
