Construction will begin on a large housing estate after the land was purchased by a developer.

Persimmon Homes has acquired a “strategic” site in Hilperton, on the edge of Trowbridge, which has been earmarked for housing.

Plans for 68 homes on the site were approved in March and Persimmon has since secured the land.

The development will be named Highfield Gardens and includes a mix of homes, including 20 affordable units.

Construction work is set to begin in February 2025.
