Plans could be drawn up to address concerns over appearance and safety at one of a Wiltshire town’s most prominent beauty spots.

In January, The Crammer working group presented a report recommending improvements to the existing infrastructure at the town pond, off Estcourt Street.

If it goes ahead, the project will include changes to the roadside front apron of the pond in order to upgrade the appearance, access, and safety of the beauty spot.

The plans would also attempt to address the existing water inlet and outlet concerns.

At an environment committee meeting on Tuesday, November 5, town councillors will discuss whether to commission a concept design for these improvements.

This would advance the scheme and could help attract future support from organisations like Wiltshire Council and Wessex Water.

A report prepared by town council officers said: “In order to secure further resources and commitment from key infrastructure agencies, a proposal for works should be drawn up and costed.

“Infrastructure agencies that may have an interest in the Crammer are Wessex Water and Wiltshire Council.”

The Crammer working group’s report was initially presented to the former Recreation and Properties Committee in January and further ideas for improving the site were brought forward in June.
