A Wiltshire resident has called for action over his driveway being “continuously obstructed” by neighbours and businesses.

The complainant, who has been kept anonymous, has submitted a highways improvement request to Devizes Town Council in a bid to end the issues.

He lives on the A361 Bath Road, one of the main roads into the town, but the rear access to his property leads onto the adjacent Salisbury Street.

It is claimed other vehicles regularly block the dropped kerb access to his garage, stopping him from entering the garage and creating a “dangerous” situation.

A report prepared by town council officers said: “Officers have received a highways improvement request from a resident of Bath Road, in relation to blocked rear access to his property via Salisbury Street.

“In the request, the resident states neighbours and local businesses are continuously obstructing the dropped kerb rear access to his garage.

“This is causing dangerous visibility issues and at times making it impossible to use the rear access to his home.”

The request suggested protective road markings to remind drivers not to park across the dropped kerb.

Devizes Town Councillors will discuss whether they support this request at a planning committee meeting on Tuesday, November 5.

If they do, it will be put to the Local Highways and Footways Improvement Group for consideration.
