The victim of an alleged theft lost £4,500 after trying to buy a car at a Wiltshire hotel.
Police are investigating a botched car sale at the Premier Inn car park, off West Cepen Way in Chippenham, that took place between 10.30am and 11.30am on August 27.
The alleged victim met two men in the car park intending to buy an off-white Toyota IQ.
He handed over £4,500 in cash then left the scene to move his other vehicle.
But it is alleged that when he returned five minutes later the two suspects had fled with the vehicle and the money.
The suspects are described as black men, one of whom was around 5ft 7 inches tall and clean shaven.
He was wearing blue trousers and a light blue jacket.
