Plans to transform the site of a former day care centre into a housing development of 48 homes have progressed.
Wiltshire Council’s western area planning committee resolved to approve the redevelopment of Ashton Street Centre, on Ashton Street in Trowbridge, at a meeting in August, subject to the completion of a legal agreement.
Now, official approval has been issued and applicant Stone Circle has received notice of the decision.

Stone Circle is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wiltshire Council set up to provide affordable homes in the county.
This application for 48 homes in Trowbridge was first approved in 2022 but came back before the committee earlier this year following changes to the national planning policy framework.
The buildings on the site have long been demolished but it used to be a council owned day care centre.
Described both visually and operationally as “a significant improvement”, the plans proposed the construction of 48 new homes on the “underutilised land”.
The application also said it was “an opportunity to create a sustainable residential development in close proximity to the facilities and services within Trowbridge Community Area”.
It stated: “The dwellings can be designed and scaled to work with lifestyles and to be flexible enough so that homes can grow and evolve as family or life circumstances change.”
