Work has finished on the most recent stage of a major £2 million town centre roadworks project.

Wessex Water completed the Market Place section of its major scheme to upgrade the water supply in Devizes on Friday, October 25.

On Monday, October 28, the utilities firm confirmed its 10-week stint in the Market Place had been completed and the road was being reinstated while machinery was moved for the next stage of the project.

This will take place in Station Road with work kicking off properly on Tuesday, October 29, and continuing until November 15.

During this time the route will remain closed to traffic.

This will conclude Wessex Water’s scheduled roadworks in Devizes during 2024, with the project breaking over the Christmas period.

The scheme will kick off again on Monday, January 6 when crews move back to the town centre to carry out work in Wine Street and High Street.

Wessex Water says the ongoing scheme, the final phase of which will take place in 2025, is essential for upgrading the town’s water supply by replacing degrading water pipes.
