Details have been revealed ahead of a Christmas lights switch on event with crowds expected to swarm a Wiltshire town.
Chippenham’s long weekend of festive celebrations will kick off on Thursday, November 28, and continue until Sunday, December 1.
The town’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.55pm on the Saturday, after the traditional spectacle of Santa abseiling down into the Market Place via the museum.
Across the day, the town centre will host a family-friendly programme of free entertainment and activities including performances from CLOGettes, Robbie Culley, and the Wiltshire Police Band.

There will also be interactive walkabout entertainment and children’s creative activities.
For the fourth year running, the free Christmas Island and Festive Fringe event will also be put on by the town council in collaboration with Melt Productions.
This will take place at The Island in Monkton Park and will feature live, festive entertainment as well as some spectacular installations.
The Island will be open throughout the four days, and seating will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
It will showcase live music and comedy, cinema screenings, festive workshops, artisan market stalls, and a live brass band playing Christmas Carols by Candlelight.
