A request has been made to overhaul a “dangerous” junction near a Wiltshire town centre.

The request suggests a review of the design of the junction between Avenue La Fleche and Wood Lane, near Lidl in Chippenham.

The person who made the request claims the junction has posed a danger to crossing pedestrians for some time, due to the poor visibility of signage on the blind bend.

They said: “The problem is at the entrance and exit to Wood Lane at the junction with Avenue La Fleche.

“Though it has been amplified by the recent London Road works and diversions, it is a long term issue.

“Drivers sometimes turn up the wrong side of the Wood Lane carriageway entering a blind bend on the wrong side of the road.”

It is hoped that the safety of the junction could be reviewed by the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG).

Suggested solutions include reviewing the design of the junction and making changes to signage, including an additional no entry sign.

The proposal will be passed to LHFIG if it is supported by town councillors at a planning committee meeting on Thursday, October 24.
