Repairs to a burst pipe that has left several homes in the Swindon area without water are taking longer than expected.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday, Thames Water was made aware of an issue in the SN5 postcode which stopped the supply of water to homes in the GL7, SN2, SN4, SN5, SN6, and SN15 areas.

Engineers started working on the pipe problem at around 6.30pm but complications with the repair effort has led to several homes still lacking water pressure on Sunday morning.

locals in Royal Wootton Bassett specifically reported still having no, or low, supply on Sunday morning. 

Thames Water has rerouted the local network to restore as much of the supply as possible while the work continues

A spokesperson from the utility company said: “We’re currently repairing a burst pipe close to the Braydon Crossroads, SN5.

“Unfortunately the repair is taking longer than usual, as the burst is in a field making access more difficult.

“To keep customers in supply, we have re-routed our network while these works continue.

“Due to this you may experience a lower pressure than normal during peak times this morning.

“We are working hard to restore your supplies as quickly as possible and thank you for your patience during this time.”
