A motorcyclist has been hospitalised after his motorbike and a car crashed during yesterday’s evening rush hour.

The vehicles crashed around 6pm on October 16 on the B4042 Brinkworth Road, near Royal Wootton Bassett.

Police and ambulance responded and the motorcyclist was taken to Great Western Hospital. His status or severity of injuries was not disclosed.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We responded to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Brinkworth Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, shortly before 6.15pm yesterday (16/10).

“The motorcyclist sustained injuries and received appropriate care on the scene.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 18:05hrs on Wednesday 16 October to a road traffic collision near Royal Wooton Bassett, Swindon

“We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”

The accident caused some traffic at the time at the road was blocked by the accident.

The AA reported at the time: "Brinkworth Road both ways blocked, delays due to accident between The Rugby Club (Hook) and The Pub (Royal Wootton Bassett)."
