The management behind a newly reopened Wiltshire pub are celebrating after a “successful” first weekend in business following its refurbishment.
New boss Matthew Humphries and his family reopened the Roebuck Inn, on London Road in Marlborough, on Friday, October 11.
The venue, which was bought by Admiral Taverns this year, had been closed for a renovation, which started around a month ago after the new team took over.
Mr Humphries told this paper The Roebuck had been busy during its first days under new management.
He said: “The opening Friday was extremely successful, we were so busy and that continued over the weekend, we got crowds from the Big Mop on Saturday too.
“We had lots of locals, couples, and families in here, we’ve had constant trade, so it’s been really positive so far and has exceeded my expectations.”

Mr Humphries takes charge of The Roebuck following 26 years of experience in the industry.
Ahead of the reopening, he said he wanted to put the pub back at the heart of the community.
He added: “I don’t want to lose the traditional feel of the pub, but we want to get the community back in here.
“It’s massive because pubs are closing all the time, so we want to welcome absolutely everyone here.”

The refurbishment has included “major works” to the kitchen, an updated cellar, new beer lines, new products, and the renovation of a traditional bar.
There will also be a range of events for customers to get involved in.
Mr Humphries said: “We’re changing the concept of the pub a bit, so we’re aiming for families, couples, and we want to have a community pub here.
“We’ve got music lined up once a month, we’re doing quizzes, theme nights, we’ve massively invested in the kitchen, and we want customers to pick their ales and give us feedback.”
He added that Admiral Taverns has supported him fully throughout the renovation.
David Stallard, the company’s business development manager, said: "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Matt to The Roebuck.
“His passion for both the pub and the community is tangible and I have no doubt that he will be a fantastic asset to the site and local area.
“His vision for The Roebuck is absolutely spot on and it's been a real pleasure working with him to bring this to life.
“On behalf of myself and the whole team at Admiral Taverns, I wish him the best of luck for the future and look forward to seeing him cement the pub at the heart of the community.”
