A residential road labelled “the worst” in a Wiltshire town is set to close for two weeks during resurfacing.
Ladyfield Road in Chippenham is due to close to motorists on Monday, October 14, between Hungerdown Lane and Sheldon Road, when carriageway repairs start on the route.
The road will remain closed between the hours of 7am and 7pm until Monday, October 28, while Wiltshire Council carries out resurfacing and other associated works.
Equipment appearing to relate to these works was dropped off at the site on Thursday, October 9, when unrelated Wessex Water repairs were ongoing at the side of the road.
Residents have long been calling for repair works on the street, where potholes plague the road surface for long stretches.
Many reacted positively when it was revealed that resurfacing would be carried out in the area.

Steve Newman-Smith said: “Over the moon if this actually goes ahead.
“Must have replaced at least two sets of top mounts on my rear suspension due to the damage that road has caused.”
Lilian Barker added: “About time, hurts my back every time I have to drive down it.”
Margaret Woolford labelled Ladyfield Road “the worst” in Chippenham while other drivers compared it to a golf course.
Karen Pearson added: “We have been waiting for this for ages and I'm sure the fire service will be pleased as it is their main route out into Hungerdown Lane.
“I hope they do something with the bit at the top around the green, it is like a golf course with all the holes.”

Cllr Adrian Foster, the representative for Chippenham Sheldon, said he had been campaigning for the road to be resurfaced for three years.
He added: “It has taken me three years of campaigning to get this road moved up the schedule, after previous councillors allowed it to be moved down the schedule.
“These things don’t happen by accident but require hard work on behalf of the local councillor to get what the residents need done.”
Speaking on Facebook, Cllr Nic Puntis warned residents that a traffic management would be in place for the duration of the scheme and that this may cause some disruption.
This plan should be communicated to residents and should contain guidance on where to park, as cars currently line the length of the street.
