Town councillors have backed plans for “an unusual” Wiltshire venue to serve alcohol.

At the time of writing, Wiltshire Council is considering an application for Tabletop Tactics Ltd to serve alcohol at its venue in Chippenham.

The business currently runs an events space at an industrial unit at Ashville Court in Methuen Park.

The site will host private ticketed tournaments where participants can play tabletop games like Warhammer.

Only over-18s will be allowed to attend and, if approved, a bar would serve ticket holders alcohol between 8am and 10pm.

Chippenham Town Council supported the proposal, and councillors were excited about another entertainment venue in the town.

Cllr Pete Cousins said: “I think it’s fantastic that we’re attracting a diversification of entertainment to Chippenham.

“It’s a facility for people to use who maybe have not got that facility currently in town so it’s a really positive thing for Chippenham.”

Cllr Adam Ward added: “I respect anybody who starts a business and with this being reasonably niche I think we should support it at every opportunity.

“It’s nice to see that people in business are willing to take a chance on new and unusual businesses so we should support it.”
