Residents have been warned “flooding is possible” after heavy rain in Wiltshire.
Just weeks after the county was battered by severe rainfall and parts of towns and villages were left flooded, more heavy rain fell on Sunday, October 6.
This has led the Environment Agency to issue a flood alert for the Upper Bristol Avon area, which covers the River Avon in towns like Chippenham, Calne, Corsham, and Malmesbury.
Flood prone areas like Dauntsey, near the M4, and Reybridge near Chippenham are also at risk.
The alert said: “Flooding may affect locations near the Bristol Avon, Tetbury Avon, Sherston Avon and Dauntsey Brook, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly in Tetbury, Badminton, Brook End at Luckington, Corsham, Lacock and the road at Reybridge.”

Drier conditions are expected from the rest of Sunday onwards and river levels in the area are now falling, however the alert remains in place.
The Environment Agency says that, despite this positive outlook, flooding is still possible through Sunday and into Monday.
Property flooding is not expected.
The situation will continue to be monitored and further alerts may be issued if necessary.
There is also an alert for the River Thames and its small tributaries from Calcutt to Lechlade, which may impact the area north of Swindon.
