Several new shops and businesses are to open in Trowbridge town centre in the next few weeks.

They include two new fast food outlets in the Castle Place shopping centre and the new Mini Market Express in Market Street.

The new Mini Market Express is also taking a Castle Place unit previously occupied by a McColls convenience store.

It will be selling dry groceries, as well as alcohol, and it will also eventually have a Paypoint and a National Lottery terminal.

The investment is being made by Mohamed Aziz, who also runs the 7 Days Trowbridge Ltd convenience store in Wicker Hill.

Mr Aziz said: “I am planning to open the new shop in about 13 days’ time (Wednesday, October 16).

“We will be selling 85 percent English foods, and will be open for 20 hours a day from 6am to 2am.

“I think it will be very good for Trowbridge, as no-one else is opening until 2am in the morning.”

Other shops due to open soon, include The Chicken Stop which is taking over the former JC’s Kitchen unit at Castle Place.

Signs in the window indicate it will be selling fried chicken, fresh pizza, burgers and loaded fries.

The owners say: “Don’t be a chicken. Come on in.”

Inside the Castle Place mall, a new sandwich shop will be opening soon. The Sandwich Hub will sell freshly made sandwiches and more.

It’s being run by Tracy Barlow, who used to work with Tony Pinto at Intermezzo in Fore Street.

She’s just bought all of Tony’s kitchen equipment following his retirement in September.

She is hoping to launch her new business at the end of October.

Kez Garner, chair of Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new openings, saying: “ I am delighted to see more shops opening and food places included in that.

“There are more coming but they have not announced themselves yet. The front of Castle Place will look quite vibrant by the end of the month.”
