A town centre unit housing a Greggs store has been placed on the market for over £400,000.

The Chippenham High Street property where Greggs is currently based has been put up for sale for a price of £435,000.

But the sale will likely not impact the immediate future of the bakery, as the chain has signed a 10-year lease, lasting until April 2026, on the entire property.

The national chain currently rents its store on the High Street from the owner, giving the property and any potential buyer an annual income of £46,000.

The prominent unit is available by way of a new 999 year long leasehold interest, according to estate agent Goadsby.

As well as its High Street store, Greggs also has premises at Hathaway Retail Park and at the service station on Rowden Hill.

Greggs has also submitted plans to convert a vacant unit on Bumpers Farm Industrial Estate into another branch.

These plans are awaiting a decision by Wiltshire Council at the time of writing.

Greggs was contacted for comment.
