A golf course in a huge Wiltshire park has applied for a further three years to complete its extension project, which was approved back in 2014.

White Horse Country Park is located to the north east of Westbury and has 247 acres of parkland.

As well as rugby pitches and a bowls club, it also provides a nine-hole golf course.

(Image: SAS Golf Design) Just over 10 years ago, Wiltshire Council approved the extension of this course by an additional nine holes.

However, the work was never completed, and the council must now decide whether to grant an extension of this planning permission.

The application states: “With ever increasing poor weather year on year, the applicant chooses to close the project in such times so as not to cause issues with mud on the road and poor construction of the earthworks.

“This has lost a lot of time and material along with COVID and other regulated facilities opening in the area.“

It adds: “The applicant would like a further 3 years to complete the whole project to include re-profiling of the original 9 holes.

“In doing this, the construction of the additional holes will make the course a full 18-hole facility for its current members and will encourage new members to join making it one of the best facilities in the area.”
