The Great British Bake Off returned for a new series this week, but Wiltshire contestant Mike Wilkins already finds himself in danger of an early exit.

The 15th series of the show began on Tuesday, September 26, with Mike, 29, joining 11 other contestants in the famous tent.

A fourth-generation farmer, Mike works both on the family farm Wilkins & Son and as a farm manager for CP Farming in Malmesbury.

In the first episode, judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood decided not to eliminate anyone, which meant all contestants progressed to the next week.

However, Mike's odds of winning the show, according to Gambling.com, have been set at an unlikely 8/1, while he is the third favourite to be the first to leave, with odds of 9/4.

The early frontrunner to be crowned champion is John, who has been made the 13/8 favourite after winning the first Star Baker award, while Sumayah and Georgie are also in the running early on.

Illiyn is fourth favourite to win the series, followed by Andy, Gill, Nelly, Dylan, Jeff and then Mike, who is 10th favourite.

Hazel looks to be in danger, being the 10/1 outsider to win the series and 15/8 favourite to be the first baker sent home.
