The following cases were heard at magistrates courts in Swindon and Salisbury.

AVEBURY: On Tuesday, September 3, Celso Goncalves Gomes, of Bell Vue Road in Stroud, was sentenced for speeding in Wiltshire.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to breaking the 30mph speed limit on Beckhampton Road in Avebury on May 7, while driving a Ford Transit van.

He was fined £366, ordered to pay £90 in costs and a £146 surcharge, and received four penalty points on his driving licence.

MELKSHAM: On Tuesday, September 3, Klevi Bara, of Corncockle Close, was sentenced for drug driving and other motoring offences.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to driving at Yarnbrook on January 9 when the proportion of Benzoylecgonine in his blood exceeded the legal limit.

Bara also pleaded guilty to driving without the correct licence and insurance.

He was banned from driving for a year, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £96 surcharge.

MELKSHAM: On Tuesday, September 3, a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced for burglary.

The teenager pleaded guilty to entering the cadet hut on Ruskin Avenue in Melksham with the intent to steal on January 16.

He was ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

MELKSHAM: On Tuesday, September 3, a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced for burglary.

The teenager pleaded guilty to entering the cadet hut on Ruskin Avenue in Melksham with the intent to steal between January 16 and January 22.

He was ordered to pay £50 compensation slapped with a Youth Rehabilitation Order and will have a 7pm curfew, to be monitored by an electric tag, for three months.

CHIPPENHAM: On Tuesday, September 3, Jake Clarke, of Portway, was sentenced for a racially aggravated attack and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and causing her actual bodily harm on July 7 at Great Somerford and assaulting the same victim by beating on June 21.

He was also sentenced for assaulting a man at Corsham on August 7, and damaging the victim’s front door, and the offences were racially aggravated under section 28 of the Crime and Disorder Act.

Clarke was slapped with a total custodial period of 34 weeks, suspended for two years, and must abstain from alcohol for 120 days and undergo 12 days of mental health treatment.

TROWBRIDGE: On Tuesday, September 3, a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced for possessing a knife in a public place.

The teenager pleaded guilty to having a 10-inch hunting knife on County Way in Trowbridge, on August 12, without good reason.

He was referred to a Youth Offender Panel for six months, had the knife confiscated and destroyed, and must pay a £26 surcharge.

MELKSHAM: On Tuesday, September 3, Anna Daly, of Corncockle Close, was sentenced for drug driving.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to driving at New Broughton Road on January 9 when the proportion of Benzoylecgonine in her blood exceeded the legal limit.

She was banned from driving for a year, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

TROWBRIDGE: On Wednesday, September 4, Grzegorz Giza, of Walnut Grove, was sentenced for harassment.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to harassing a woman without violence between December 2 last year and January 13.

During that time, he sent her an excessive amount of text messages and phone calls all of which were “unwanted and inappropriate”.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in jail, suspended for a year, ordered to pay £400 in costs and a £154 surcharge, and was slapped with a restraining order lasting until September 2029.
