Thousands of drivers have been caught speeding in and around a Wiltshire town.
In a report delivered to the Devizes Area Board, Wiltshire Police revealed some updated statistics that show how they are tackling road safety issues in the area.
This included a roundup of the Community Speed Watch teams’ work, with the support of police.
In total, 4,021 letters were sent to drivers between July 2020 and August 22, 2024, warning them about the speed they were travelling in Community Speed Watch areas.
During this time, teams have been conducting checks at Brickley Lane in Devizes, Great Cheverell, Market Lavington, Rowde, Seend, and Worton.

Worton saw the most letters sent, with 1,713 followed by Great Cheverell with 1,481.
The majority of letters sent were to first time offenders, with just 540 excessive letters sent out.
Community Speed Enforcement Officers have also been carrying out checks in the Devizes area between January and August.
During that time, 322 drivers were caught and offered a speed awareness course, 33 were handed a fine and points, and eight were reported to court.
Elsewhere in the county, Roads Policing Units issued over 1,500 tickets to drivers committing offences between May and July.
Speeding was the second most common offence spotted by officers, coming in behind drivers using vehicles without insurance.
