A town family hoping to bring sugar-free, unprocessed food options to the High Street will open a ‘wellness bar’ this year.
Royal Wootton Bassett resident Jaime Fouche says she’s been wanting to open a healthy café for the past 10 years.
When longstanding business Bassett Electricals closed down after 25 years, she knew it was time to turn her dream into a reality.
Supported by her husband Aran and children Ella, Chelsea and Georja, Jaime will open RW.BE as a wellness bar/cafe at Apsley House on Royal Wootton Bassett's High Street in November 2024.
The bar will serve salad bowls, smoothies, juices, soups with fresh local bread, quiche and homemade low-sugar waffles with fresh fruit among other tasty treats.
The company RW.BE, which stands for Royal Wootton Bassett Enterprise, has specifically been chosen to pay homage to Bassett Electricals (represented in the letters BE) and its impact on the town.
“Sadly Bassett Electrical, a much-loved local business has left our wonderful high street, and we have been privileged enough to be offered a wonderful opportunity to take over the premises and offer the local residents something new,” said Jaime.
“We were shopping at a local business in the arcade and noticed the ‘to let’ sign in the window. It was that feeling of it has to be this and it has to be now.
“Our experience of Bassett has been incredible and the cafes and restaurants are really great. But we always felt there was a little something missing.
“We could do with an alternative offering, where you could reduce your sugar intake, avoid overly processed foods and find alternatives for whole food. Something a little healthier.
“That’s why we are opening a wellness bar and will create fresh, healthy and delicious treats for the whole family.”
Although her whole family are involved and supporting her, Jaime will be the primary business owner and recipe creator.
An engineer by trade, she has spent over a decade researching plant-based whole food.
Her husband Aran added: "People are becoming aware that we have become so dependent on prepackaged meals, fast food and products that come filled with preservatives, additives and sugar.

"We want to appeal to people who are at any stage of their wellness journey.
"Whether they are hardcore gym bunnies or parents needing some positive energy and a place to recharge. It’s a mind, body and soul thing."
The family behind RW.BE are now in the process of renovating their site and plan to open in the first week of November.
