Plans have been approved to convert a former warehouse into a new Wiltshire veterinary clinic.

In May, Freedom Vet Limited, run by Tamsin O’Brien, applied to change the use of three units at The Barn, in Castle Combe, to a veterinary rehabilitation clinic.

The property, located just off the B4039, was previously used as a storage warehouse that supplied parts for the motor racing industry and accommodated around 12 staff.

Now Wiltshire Council has given the green light for Freedom Vet Limited to transform it into a rehab clinic housing one practitioner.

The business currently provides pain consultation and physical therapy to small animals, mainly dogs.

The clientele is typically older dogs with arthritis and patients are mostly referred from other vets and are seen during pre-arranged appointments.

During a typical day, the clinic sees around seven dogs for one-hour appointments.

In the application, Ms O’Brien said she hoped the development would benefit the local community.

In the planning statement, she added: “The aim would be to work sympathetically with the local environment and community.

“Hopefully, some local residents would benefit from the services provided.

“No structural changes to the building or site are proposed.”
