A police investigation has been launched after an alleged armed robbery at a town centre pharmacy in Wiltshire.

Just after 9am on Wednesday, September 5, a man entered Gomples Pharmacy in Bank Street, Melksham and reportedly threatened staff, and then made off with a number of perfumes.

According to customers in the store when it happened, the man was holding a knife while making threats.

The incident has now sparked a full police investigation, and officers are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything.

“Fortunately, nobody was hurt during this incident but those in the store at the time were understandably shaken up as a result of this man’s actions," said Sergeant Gemma Rutter, of Wiltshire Police.

“Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident was reported and we are really keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious.

"Gompels is right in the centre of Melksham town and this incident happened at what would have been a busy time of day with people doing the school runs, or heading off to work.

"Please check your dash cams or CCTV to assist us with our enquiries.”
