A unit on the edge of a Wiltshire town centre is up for sale after plans were approved to turn the site into housing.

Last year permission was granted to convert the former Michael Antony Estate Agents office at New Road in Chippenham into a two-bed apartment, after the decision was made to close the branch.

The applicant claimed the viability of the commercial space had been “eroded” due to its isolation from the town centre, caused by the viaduct and the busy road.

Since then, a proposal has been given the green light to demolish the outbuildings to the rear of the former office, which have been labelled unattractive and run-down, and replace them with flats.

The site is now on the market for £249,950 and is being advertised as an “exciting” development opportunity.

Estate agent Goodman Warren Beck added: “An exciting opportunity to acquire a freehold commercial property, in a prime location, which has been granted planning permission, for change of use to residential.

“The premises are in a prominent position in Chippenham town centre and within walking distance of the main line railway station.

“Planning consent has been granted, to develop the office space, into a two-bed apartment and to develop the outbuildings into two spacious, one bed apartments with parking.”
